Background of Director:

Dr. Hare has joined the Cardiovascular Division of the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine as the chief of the Cardiovascular Division and the director of the Interdisciplinary Stem Cell Institute. In addition, Dr. Hare is a Johns Hopkins University cardiologist who is pioneering the use of stem cell therapy to repair damaged hearts. Dr. Hare received his medical degree from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1988, and trained in Internal medicine at The Johns Hopkins Hospital (1991) and Cardiovascular Medicine at The Brigham and Women’s Hospital (1994). Dr. Hare has a long-standing interest in the roles of oxidative stress and nitric oxide signaling pathway in cardiovascular health and disease, and has focused his experimental studies on the aging cardiovascular system. Clinically, Dr. Hare attends on the Heart Failure Service at Johns Hopkins, and has been motivated by the increasing clinical impact of congestive heart failure in aged individuals.
